The Hawaii Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation was formed in February 2010 as a not-for-profit charitable corporation and is registered with the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. Its primary purpose was to design, construct, and maintain a monument to honor law enforcement officers from city, county, state, military, and federal agencies who have died in the line of duty, while serving the people of Hawaii.
The Foundation existed for the primary purpose of erecting a monument which will perpetually pay tribute to those who selflessly gave so that the people of Hawaii can live, work, play, and raise their families in safety and peace. In May of 2016, a memorial will finally be built for the 65 individuals who paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Foundation focus will now shift to maintenance and upkeep of the memorial, and, the establishment of a scholarship program for the families of those who have died protecting our community and State.
